Big Brands In Famous Paintings

Walk down the street today and you'll be bombarded by advertising at every turn. Prior to the the 20th century, there was no such thing as a big brand. Arguably 'God'and the Roman Catholic Church might be contenders, as for commercial enterprises, products and services were found in the local village from a friend and not far yonder.

Fast forward through the industrial revolution of the 1800s and the birth of mass advertising in the 1950s, and these days brands are hard to miss and part of an individual's identity. We wondered what would change in a classic painting Bourguereau was alive and painting today. We invited the DesignCrowd community to give iconic paintings a modern makeover.

Tablet and smart phone tech brands dominated. Rembrandt's famous self-portraits would make room for a segway; Edward Hopper's cafe in 'NightHawks' would be a Starbucks; and teenage Mona Lisa would stream music via a pair of Beats brand headphones. Check out the clever work by DesignCrowd's creative community below. Enjoy!
