9 Feline-tastic Designs for National Cat Day

Everybody knows the internet is at least 95% cats (approximate figure). Well, on October 29, the rest of the world, or at least North America, also goes crazy for cats, because it's National Cat Day!

The event is designed to encourage cat adoptions and boost donations for local shelters or rescue groups.

Well, we think we should also encourage amazing cat designs, because simply, there are never enough cats. So, beloved DesignCrowd community, go forth and create cats! For some inspiration, check out the fabulous feline designs below, our cat logo design ideas gallery or make your very own cat logo on BrandCrowd!

Nekozushi Nyaata Photoshop Design

Photoshoping cats into sushi is definitely a deliciously hilarious idea. Having a plain background really makes the sushi cat the focal point of the design.

Attention to detail, like the carefully rendered shadows, makes this Photoshop design successful and fun. If you love design, cats, and sushi, you should check the website out, and the accompanying book.

Catmosphere Cat Café Logo

Focusing on a retro theme, this logo may even be based on the sit-com The Jetsons. Although detailed, this logo is successful in its used of 3 colors (ignoring the shades).

Even though the logo utilizes flat design principles, the logotype sure pops out, with the white lines creating a subtle 3D effect.

Grumpy Cat Emoji

We will never get enough of Grumpy Cat. These hysterical emojis have a really strong sense of consistency in their design, which is important for a successful group of images.

They don't sacrifice their uniqueness either, and you get an option for just about every emotion you could ever want to convey. What's not to love?

Wednesday Cat Beer Packaging Design

An almost abstract cat is placed on this incredible beer can. Rather than focusing on outlines, this design uses colors and texture to create shapes and makes this beer quirky and unique. We'll drink to that!

Jonathan Calugi's Cat Digital Illustration

A minimalist-style approach showing numerous cats. Almost trippy, using mostly curves rather than straight lines. Minimalism normally means serious business, but using curves and one line weight makes this design a lot of fun.

Journal Illustration

Even though this is just a doodle, it showcases some great design principles. The cat is the central focal point, partly because there's all this negative space, but also because the outline of the cat is sturdy and strong against the background lines, which are of a different color and show off alignment.

Yummy Print

This print is so successful in its use of negative space. Yummy indeed. Notice not only the negative space, but the hierarchy of this design, meaning the way it guides your eyes through the image. This designer must have used their very strong knowledge of design principles to create such a cat-tivating design.

Webcat Logo

A minimal, cute logo. Using one line to create the outline of the cat is genius, especially creating the "@" sign as a tail. The outline of this cat shape is so well executed, the other components just fall right into place.

Creativedash Digital Illustration

A highly accomplished digital illustration of a robotic cat playing with a ball of internet cords. This design is successful in its application of 3D design, which is mostly achieved through the expert application of light and shadows. Also notice the differences in textures. Real effort has gone into this design.
