Our 15 Favorite Google Doodles of 2015 (so far)

Google regularly likes to play with its visual identity, and announced a new logo in September. While the basic Google logo hasn't changed this dramatically since 1999, the ever-delightful Google Doodles, which coincide with important national and international holidays, World events and anniversaries, are definitely worth celebrating.

Ranging from artistically stunning to delightfully silly, these playful adaptations of the Google homepage can be viewed in their very own archive, and have inspired many a bored office worker who has encountered them by chance.

Did you know the Google Doodle has a dedicated team to create and curate designs? What a cool gig! Google currently has a job vacancy for a Doodler at the Mountain View campus if you're interested :).

In celebration of the super-cool Google Doodle, we've handpicked some of the best Google Doodles of 2015. Enjoy!

September 1 - Google Logo

The new look - a simple sans-serif type-face and updated icons - makes sense for the smaller screens the company now finds itself filling with the recent boom of wearable tech. It also sits very squarely in the trend of simple, flat graphics that has been around for quite some time now. Read our team's analysis of the evolution of the Google logo.

Try as we might, we couldn't resist the temptation to share two of our favorite Google Doodles of years gone by as well, because they're just too great not to:

Honorary Mention 1 – Little Nemo

The artistry of this charming animation is just too great not to worship as a designer.

Honorary Mention 2 – PAC-MAN

Because the unending delight of interrupting a research project or office job to Google a random fact, only to be greeted by a fully functional PAC-MAN Google logo will forever be a happy memory.
