INFINITE Logo Design Contest Showcase

In the stylised world of Korean pop, or K-Pop to those in the know, image is everything. Marketing is seen as very important and bands often undertake a lot of promotional activities, especially when they are releasing a new album. So when K-Pop mega-boyband INFINITE announced that they were making a comeback in March, they unveiled a new image and a new logo on their official website, created by their record label Woollim Entertainment.

The relaunched INFINITE logo.

Unfortunately, fans across South Korea weren't exactly blown away by the somewhat boring logo. We thought that a talented, charismatic, award-winning, chart-topping band like INFINITE needed something with a lot more personality and style. And we thought, "who better to do this than the fans, people who are passionate about the band and about design?"

So we decided to launch an unofficial INFINITE logo design contest. We wanted to let the fans prove that they could create a new logo via a logo design contest which was much more eye-catching and fitting for the band than the one Woollim Entertainment came up with. You can read the original brief here.

We received 314 submissions from over 100 designers around the world in the quest to design INFINITE's new logo (and bag up to $750 in the process), and the top 20 designs were shortlisted and put to a public vote via DesignCrowd's facebook page. The best logo designs are collected here, including the winning design from Canadian graphic designer Buck Tornado, who is ranked #11 on DesignCrowd's global ranking. Congratulations to Buck Tornado!

rastf2day - Indonesia

PTR 9RAPHICS - Portugal

Voter comment: "Simple and clear, I like how the logo is not the word,
makes it clearer especially since the word has two i's close together.."

gauravgraphy - India

meristin - Spain

OneDesign - Indonesia

eightball inc. - Indonesia

onamel - Philippines

kresh - Croatia

Voter comment: "Great color pallet and range of design. Logo separate
from word which I personally like. The shadow on the logo is effective -
4 stars"

tgoeh - Indonesia

Voter comment: "This is quite striking, the danger with linking patterns to
words is that you can sometimes struggle to read what the word says, but
they have done a good job of enhancing the 'n'. Love the color version
- the colors mix well together. Not sure about the abstract nature of the
dot on the 'i'."

redcrackers - USA

Danish - Pakistan

Wagkangmakulit - Philippines

Voter comment: "It shows 7 members of the group. Nice."

Voter comment: "This is good because it's not a literal infinite loop.
There's a 7 on the logo, which represents there's 7 members of the
group."

Voter comment: "Real eye catching!"

craiger64 - USA

Pablo Acedo - Spain

Voter comment: "Love this one, looks retro and modern all at the
same time, easy to read, timeless, could be used in so many color
combos too."

logo_s - Romania

WhiteLion - Indonesia

Voter comment: "Like the subtle designs to the text and love the use
of the diamonds. Having the logo seperate from the word is something
I favour."

We think that there were some brilliant designs created for INFINITE, and we're sure that the band would be proud to have any of them as their logo. Which were your favorites? If they're missing from our shortlist, let us know in the comments, and tell us why you think they should have won!
